With a 21 and 7 record this season Chris will strap on his headgear one last time this season and battle 33 other wrestlers from around to country to be named National Champion.

See: NCAA Brackets for all 10 weight classes.

Last week at the ACC Men’s wrestling conference tournament, Chris Moon wrestling 165 lbs for Virginia Tech finished third and earned a wildcard to the NCAA tournament.

ACC Tournament results:
First Round: def. #7 Max Rohskopf (NCSU), MD 10-0
Semifinals: lost to #3 John Michael Staudenmayer (UNC), 2-1
Consolations: def. #5 Marcus Cain (DUKE), MD 10-2
Third-Place Match: def. #4 Geno Morelli (PITT), 8-2

Redshirting for the Hokies during his sophomore year (12-13) Chris took a 2nd place finish at 174lbs in the ACC during his freshmen year (11-12) and advanced to the NCAA then. Not placing at the national tournament he was the sole freshmen to make the NCAA wrestling tournament for the Virginia Tech squad.

NCAA First Round: Chris will be aligned with Nick Sulzer from Virginia for his first round match this weekend. The NCAA tournament will be a double elimination brackets format as the top 8 wrestlers are named All-Americans.    Team Fauquier - 1st place

pictures taken by Tyler Marable

Through the years from 2006 through 2012 Fauquier had a seven year streak of winning the District tournament. Focused and engaged wrestling which ran through this 2013-14 team. But it was not the district trophy anymore it’s a new one that reads the Conference 22 Champions on the trophy face as the Fauquier tradition continues. Read More > >

On Dec 14th the Fauquier wrestling team hosted the Falcon Duals. A smaller dual format tournament that had started in the 90s designed to give five matches per wrestler and teams. Not hosting the event last year due to scheduling conflicts, Coach Fisher reinstated this event back onto the schedule for the 2013-14 wrestling campaign as Fauquier Nation hosted this home event.

As teams prepared for this second wrestling event of the season and with the word of snow in the air one of the six teams coming from out of the area canceled. For this reason the playing field was adjusted as the gym just needing two mats on the floor vice three and a five team round robin event would leave each wrestler with four matches instead of five. The 2013-14 Wrestling Season Has Arrived
by: Ted Proctor - 11-28-2013

Happy Thanksgiving Fauquier Nation! As what Coach Fisher may have stated in the practice room “eat healthy and enjoy the one slice of turkey and pie” which is also the key with keeping focus on the overeating binge-just another example to a wrestler’s success is a healthy diet. Beating the scale, your opponent(s), plus the mental game brings on so many challenges in the sport of wrestling as all these elements must be addressed. These factors and more is what makes up the sweat that beads on the forehead of a Fauquier wrestler during a practice-the 2013-14 wrestling season has arrive and are you ready. But let us not forget about all those behind the scenes folks that are the engine to this program. The cleaning of the mats, the washing of the uniforms, to the booking of the hotels, to the recent upgrades of the wrestling room, this is a well oiled engine. Let give thanks to all. Read More > >
