Happy Thanksgiving Fauquier Nation! As what Coach Fisher may have stated in the practice room “eat healthy and enjoy the one slice of turkey and pie” which is also the key with keeping focus on the overeating binge-just another example to a wrestler’s success is a healthy diet. Beating the scale, your opponent(s), plus the mental game brings on so many challenges in the sport of wrestling as all these elements must be addressed. These factors and more is what makes up the sweat that beads on the forehead of a Fauquier wrestler during a practice-the 2013-14 wrestling season has arrive and are you ready. But let us not forget about all those behind the scenes folks that are the engine to this program. The cleaning of the mats, the washing of the uniforms, to the booking of the hotels, to the recent upgrades of the wrestling room, this is a well oiled engine. Let give thanks to all.

On December 7th the Falcons will travel to Skyline H.S. in Front Royal, VA to compete in the Elite Opener. This will be a 12 team tournament and in many people’s eyes, some of-THE BEST TEAMS from across the state of Virginia to compete head-to-head. Teams will be placed into three pools of four and each wrestler will wrestle three matches. The top wrestlers from each pool will then wrestle each other for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and so on for all other wresters grouped with similar records.

To close out the 2013 year the following would then be the next three dates for team Fauquier.

12/14/2013
12/21-22/2013
12/27-28/2013
Falcon Duals
Beast of the East Univ.
Mount Mat Madness Univ.
(Home) Fauquier
Univ. Delaware, Newark DE
Univ. of Maryland Baltimore Co.

Coach Fisher starts his fourth year as the head wresting coach with a 45-14 win lost record; that is a 76 winning percentage. But people must understand moving forward there is no more District Tournament, Conferences now rules the first level to the show, the path to the state tournament. But for more thoughts can Fauquier repeat as the Regional Champion as the past four Region II trophies are resting in there trophies case. A young team last year Coach Fisher hopes rising juniors can show their experience on the mat.
