Are you ready to wrestle? This maybe a common theme for a lot of wrestling coaches to say before a match but to step out onto the mat and wrestle any top rank 6A team in the state like Forest Park and Woodbridge you’re going to need to be ready.

I am not talking about the simple ready things like tapping ones wrestling shoe strings or snapping your head gear before reporting to the head table. It’s about your game as a team to compete with the best in the state when give the opportunity.

Coach Fisher has challenged his team this year as the Falcon wrestling team has accepted these tests. It’s not “are you ready” rather that team Fauquier has been expected to perform at each of the top level events that they have attended. But now that we are at a place in time where we turn the page at the end of the regular season, as the post season now begins. But on the other hand wouldn't you want to also be in the ring with the best. Well that’s what the post season brings and if you are not ready by now why even put tape on your wrestling shoes.

Robinson, Colonial Forge, Lake Braddock, Chantilly, Grassfield, Mountain View, Battlefield, and now Forest Park and many others are those five and six A classification schools that team Fauquier has faced and are top notch programs. Not to knock any state team that not on this list but Coach Fisher thrives for key match ups. As the final meet of the season at Forest Park HS may not have had many key matchups for team Fauquier, but having a chance to see Eastern Prince William Co. best team’s shows for some excitement on the mat.

As a quad meet was downgraded to a tri meet it ran as a split duals format on Sat., Feb. 1st, Fauquier would only be aligned with two matches this day. Originated slated as a quad meet as Hanover HS had backed out of this meet do to the weather condition in the south. Falcons would end up going 1 and 1 for the day as they extended the season record to 11-5.

Fauquier falls 27- 42 to Forest Park but bounced back to steal a 43 - 29 win over Woodbridge. Both matches were close as it came down to the final few bouts to declare the team winners. A few matches even went into overtime and 3rd period last second key match wins kept fans on edge. Good sportsmanship by all teams was witnessed.

Daniel Ariola, Kyle Roche, Trevor Marable, Matt Raines, and Garrett Tingen all went 2-0 for the day as they all extend their season records. Coach Fisher will be also looking for these wrestlers to continue far into to the post season play.

As the Fauquier gears up for the post season as Conference 22 tournament will be Saturday Feb. 8th. The top four placements in each weight class in the conference will quality to regionals the following week.
