All-time greatest moments and achievements

Started in 2015 and updated at the close of each season, in open discussion with current and past coaches.

Most of these accomplishments come from wrestlers contributing hard work in a system built to win — a program that claimed the state championship in 2020 after back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016, alongside 4 state runner-up teams and 9 regional championships. From one year to the next this list changes as new moments emerge. As of February 28, 2020:

1. 4A State Championship title — 16-man bracket, 7 wrestlers in the semi-finals, 4 in finals and 3 champs with 170.5 pts (2020)
2. 4A State Championship title — 6 wrestlers in the semi-finals, 4 finalists and 2 champs with 114.5 pts (2016)
3. 4A State Championship title — 8 wrestlers in the semi-finals, 6 finalists and 3 champs with 129 pts, the first in the school's 50-year history (2015)
4. Sam Fisher becomes the first wrestler in Fauquier County to win states 4×, regions 4×, and districts 4×, earning bonus points in every post-season match except his freshman state final (2017–2020)
5. Garrett Tingen becomes the first wrestler in Fauquier County history to win the state championship 3× (2014, 2015, 2016)
6. Nick Cook wins the Beast of the East tournament over John Hiles (St. Francis) in the finals (2007)
7. Nick Cook wins the Powerade tournament, beating Paul Snyder (Mt. Pleasant) 3–1 in OT — the #2 ranked wrestler in the country (2008)
8. Sam Fisher, 2× placer at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman (2018, 2019)
9. Three 2× 4A individual state champs: Daniel Ariola, Matt Raines, and Garrett Tingen (2015)
10. Three 4A individual state champs — DJ Richards, Gino Camarca, and Sam Fisher — all earning pins in the finals (2020)

17. Three wrestlers in the 3A state finals with a state champ: Ryan Hunsberger 2nd, Chris Moon 2nd, Daniel McGillivray 1st (2009)
18. Going 3–2 at the Virginia Duals National High School Division, beating two nationally ranked teams — Don Bosco Prep, ranked 37th nationally and seeded #1 (36–32), and McDonogh (33–32) (2015)
19. Going 3–1 at the Virginia Duals American Division for a 2nd-place finish (2011)
20. Robby Gosnell wins the 2A state championship title — the first Falcon state champ in 20 years (2002)
21. Tom Cummings becomes the first 4× regional champion (1980–1983)
22. Team finishes 12th at the Beast of the East with 95 pts (2008)
23. Winning the 4A Region championship with 6 individual champs — DJ Richards, Gino Camarca, Eric DeWald, Sam Fisher, Ben Bell, Thomas Heisler — the most in school history (2020)
24. Winning the 2A regional championship for the first time in school history with 237.5 pts; individual champions Ryan Hunsberger, Andrew Richards, Seth Baker, and Conner Miller (2010)
25. Winning the 2A regional team championship a second year in a row and qualifying 11 wrestlers to the AA state championship, the most in team history (2011)
26. Winning the 4A West Region championship after trailing Liberty HS by 11.5 team points; Franco Camarca fought through illegal blows to the back of the head in the 3rd period to win his match and seal the program's seventh region title (2017)
27. Winning the AA Region II championship a fourth year in a row, taking three of four championship finals plus bonus points after entering the finals in third place (2013)
28. Winning 7 straight District / Conference 22 championship titles (2006–2012)
29. Greg Flournoy takes 4th at the Beast of the East, beating Jacob Crawford (Millbrook), the #12 ranked wrestler in the country, in the quarters (2008)
30. Garrett Tingen takes 5th at the Beast of the East, going 6–2 as the team earns 40th place with 39 points (2015)
31. Franco Camarca wins the 4A state championship 3–2 over Kaden Woodward (Eastern View), securing Fauquier's second-place team finish (2017)
32. Sam Fisher becomes the first freshman in Fauquier County history to win a wrestling state championship, 3–0 over senior 3× finalist Matt Laird (Eastern View) (2017)
33. Garrett Tingen wins the Elite Opener, pinning Corbin Allen (Hanover), the #15 ranked wrestler in the country, in the finals (2014)
34. Matt Raines wins Mount Mat Madness over Eric Hong (Georgetown Prep) and is named Outstanding Wrestler (2014)
35. Kyle Budd, as a sophomore, beats back-to-back previous state champions — 1–0 over DJ Ahalt (Courtland) in the semis and 7–4 over Aaron Black (Jameswood) in the finals — to seal the 2016 VHSL state title for himself and the team (2016)
36. Kyle Budd, as a freshman, pins Gray Hart (Hanover) in the 4A state semi-finals, securing the team points to win the state championship (2015)
37. Going 2–2 at the Virginia Duals National High School Division, defeating top Virginia teams Cox (37–23) and Great Bridge (32–24) — a benchmark that the program was becoming one of the best in Virginia (2008)
38. Winning the 2011 Evergreen District championships with 274 points — the most ever for Fauquier at a district championship — advancing 12 wrestlers to the finals with 8 champions and qualifying all 14 wrestlers to the Region II championships, the most in school history (2011)
39. A total team effort in a come-from-behind final round at the Northwestern District championships, every wrestler scoring team points as Fauquier edged Liberty 210.5–209 (2018)
40. Most regional champs — 5 (Ethan Jordon, Kyle Budd, Joe Del Gallo, Sam Fisher, Tyler Raymond) — and 7 regional finalists (2018)
41. Cam Franklin's come-from-behind pin sparks an 8–0 finals round at the Conference 22 finals as Fauquier rallies to win the title (2016)
42. Down by one point during the 285 lb 3rd-place finals, Thomas Heisler earns a 3rd-period pin to edge Liberty 201–198 for the Northwestern District championship, advancing 12 wrestlers to 4A regions (2019)
43. Garrett Tingen, as a sophomore, pins Austin Jenkins (Eastern View) in the Conference 22 championship finals (2014)
44. Qualifying 6 wrestlers to the AAA state championship and earning 14 wins — the most in the team's 35-year history at the time, and a benchmark that the program was becoming good (2000)
45. Winning 4 consecutive regional championships (2010–2013)
46. Most regional champs to date — 4 (Greg Flournoy, Conner Miller, Chris Moon, Daniel McGillivray) — a first in the team's 45-year history (2009)
47. Winning 9 individual district championships, the most and a first in team history (2009)
48. Region II championship finals: Max Strum wins by pin over Thomas Smith (Powhatan) — a final after which Smith separated a Kettle Run gym door from its hinges (2012)
49. Over the past decade, Fauquier Times sports media has published a yearly Top 10 or Top 20 sports moments list — Fauquier wrestling took a spot every year (2010–2019)
