Feb., 21st-22nd 2020 UPDATE: Championship Semi-Finals ~ 4A State Championships Tuscarora High School, Leesburg, VA

Leesburg, VA: Day 2- Recap of the Semi-Finals.

If any wrestler stepped on the scale for the second day of the VHSL State Wrestling Championships then they have earned the right to have placed in the top six.

As the 4A State Championship entered Day 2, Fauquier wrestling had advanced seven wrestlers onto the Championship Semi-Finals.

Seven was the most by any State team while Great Bridge and Liberty HS. both had six.

In 2015 Team Fauquier put eight in the Semi-Finals lead by Matt Raines, Garrett Tingen, Daniel Ariola all three helped Fauquier win a state Championship then.

In 2017 the Falcon also advanced seven to the State Semi-Finals which lead to having four finalists.

But not here to discuss the past as the Falcons are clearly in the mix and atop of the leader board as day 2 started and continues.

Earning a victory in the State Semi-Finals match wrestlers will earn 11 team points and if a win comes with bonus points, they we can add bonus points to that.

While five teams hover on top of the leader board (Fauquier 84, Great Bridge 82.5, Jefferson Forest 80, Eastern View 77, and Liberty 71.5) the start of the Championships Semi-Final round, this is where separation can sometimes occur between the leading teams and the chase for the state crown.

Championship Semi-Finals Results:
Team Fauquier went 4 and 3 in the Championship round advancing 4 to the Championship Finals.

(126) DJ Richards, (138) Gino Camarca, (160) Eric Dewald, and (182) Sam Fisher all won their Semi bouts and will represent team Fauquier in the 2020 4A State Finals.

Pins were earned by Gino Camarca and Sam Fisher.

A huge victory came from (160) Eric Dewald earning an overtime take down to win a 3-1 match. Dewald had lost to Parker Hoden (Amherst County) during the season while a rematch had the Falcons wanting a victory when it counted the must.

The Falcons improve to 133.5 points and had the lead heading into the State Consolation placement rounds.

Team score after Championship Semi-Finals round had Fauquier 133pts, Great Bridge 120pts, Liberty 118pts.

195 Sam Fisher (Fauquier) won by fall over Jovante` Hobbs (Dinwiddie) (Fall 3:27)
220 CJ Taylor (Eastern View) won by fall over Benjamin Bell (Fauquier) (Fall 4:45)
285 Andy Aldridge (Lee- Davis) won by tech fall over Thomas Heisler (Fauquier) (TF-1.5 2:30 (20-5))

State Championship Update:
The Championships Finals are scheduled for 5PM start time and Fauquier will have FOUR wrestlers on deck in the Finals.

Below are the four Falcons that will be wrestling in the 4A Championship Finals which will start at 5PM today.

Pairing for the State Championship Finals:
126 DJ Richards vs. Sean Hall of Powhatan
138 Gino Camarca vs. William Winegardner Liberty
160 Eric DeWald vs. Drew Shurina of Eastern View
182 Sam Fisher vs. Josh Brooks of Amherst County

Consolation Round Update:
If any wrestlers earn a win in the Consolation Semi-Finals round, then they will get a chance to wrestle for 3rd place. But if wrestler loses then they will be aligned with the 5th and 6th Final bout.

For team Fauquier to have a chance to take on the State crown the road will start with these four Falcons needing to add to the team total.

The Medal round - 3rd and 4th Finals alongside the 5th and 6th Finals as four Fauquer wrestlers battled for these placements.

Results Consolation 3/4 5/6-Finals:
Four wrestlers battled to earn State placement. While (195) Benjamin Bell and (285) Casey Burr brough home 4th place status, (120) Reece Kuhns earns a 5th place with a 4-1 win over Timmy Faber (Loudoun County) and (195) Thoamas Heisler won over Cameron Martindale (Salem).
