Portsmouth, VA: The State Championship tournament continued with the first round of Consolations. This was an elimination round while brackets numbers would decrease to 12 wrestlers. Going into the Quarter Finals all team drew closer to the leaders and picked up some team points. But in the Quarter Final round in addition to advancement points a win from wrestlers would give teams three points for placement and a ticket to the Championship Semi-Finals.
Most of the Quarters Finals bouts had a make-up of a number one seed paired with the number two seeds, but we were witness in the first round a few upsets. While Fauquier would have eight wrestlers on deck the top teams in this round all would have more wrestlers than Fauquier making for an exciting Quarters.
Overview: It started for Fauquier with a big win and pin by 195 Casey Burr in the second period that gave team Fauquier 3 points plus bonus in the Consolations round. In the Quarters Finals, Fauquier went 7 - 1 and advanced seven wrestlers into the Championship Semi-Finals. Including Burr pin in the Consolations, six Falcons earned pins for team Fauquier. Team Fauquier has advanced seven wrestlers into the Virginia State Semi-Finals. Team total has Fauquier on top with 81 team points. The next round will be the second round of the Consolations and is scheduled for 6PM start and 7:30PM Semi-Finals.
Key wins for team Fauquier came from: 120 Gino Camarca, 126 Ethan Jordon, 170 Sam Fisher, 182 Franco Camarca, 195 Casey Burr, and 220 Tyler Raymond all earned pins.
