The Virginia High School League (VHSL) is the governing body and a non-profit organization that regulates all of the public high schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHSL’s central league office, located in Charlottesville Virginia, is presently moving to install new six A classifications. This is a shake-up which already has drawn a lot of attention with this regrouping, as Fauquier HS is currently in a pool with many new schools.
The main purpose of the VHSL is to “promote education, leadership, sportsmanship, character and citizenship for students by establishing and maintaining high standards for school activities and competitions.” Currently, the VHSL classification is based on enrollment into three groups, A, AA, and AAA. For the past three years the Falcons have been in the AA as Fauquier has bounced back and forth between AA and AAA classification.
The VHSL has put together many state committees for this Redistricting and Reclassification (R&R) process. The primary purpose of moving to a six A classification was to equalize competitive fairness and the relevant size of schools in of all sports and activities. For more information and to keep up to date with this process go to the VHSL web site at: http://www.vhsl.org/
Please note that this new structure of public school alignment is currently not final as High School Principals, School Districts and the R&R committees are still meeting as adjustments may still occur. But from the outside looking in, the plan for the VHSL Executive Committee to approve and implement this new six A classification will be adopted for the next odd-numbered school years (2013-2015).

Please note the VHSL has placed Fauquier in the 4 A North classification within Conference 22. The below list of schools is the make-up of this conference.
Liberty – Beal
A seeding meeting at the Conference level will determine bracketing for the conference championship. The top four individuals in each weight at each conference class will quality for the regional championship. Then each of the two regions will qualify four individuals to the state championship to create an eight person bracket in each weight class.
