DETAILS: The Fauquier Wrestling team will be headed to Skyline HS for the Elite Opener for the Varsity Individual Round Robin on Saturday, December 3rd. This will be the first wrestling event of the season for the Falcons as the team will face off with some of the best teams from Virginia.
The Elite Opener is a 12 team individual double pool tournament. Each wrestler will begin the day in a four person pool and will wrestle each of the other three wrestlers in that pool. Following the break each wrestler will be matched into a new three person pool with two other wrestlers that had similar records in their pools earlier that day. Individual awards for the top 4 finishers will be given along with team awards for the top two teams.
Last season Fauquier had a wrestler place second and third and a total of four placers in all. The Falcons finished in 8th place with 233 points in 2016 a 5th place in 2015 and 3rd place finish in 2014 and 2013. The event schedule and teams that will be in attendance is listed below.
