On Dec 10th the Fauquier wrestling team hosted the annual Falcon Duals. To hold a home meet in early December had the home town fans witnessing Fauquier winning all matches with five individual Champions. The second event of the season has Fauquier resting with a 5-0 season dual meet record.
Having three mats down in the main gym and two in the auxiliary gym for the JV jamboree, it was all about wrestling on this day. Senior standout Ty Foster improves to a 9-1 season record and achieved his 100th match win and took the Outstanding Wrestler trophy at the Duals.
Although the five visiting teams may not have been at the same level as the Elite Opener each match that Fauquier wrestled brought on some excitement. In the first round the Falcons squared up with Ridge Rock from Loudoun where they won 66-9 as Fauquier went 12 -1 earning eight pins.
Then in the second round Fauquier defeated Henrico 75-6 where they tacked onto the pin total with five more pins during this match. One of those pins came from 145 lbs Ty Foster over Taijan Cotman Fall 0:18. This was the fastest pin of the duals and gave Foster his 100th win.
After a short break the Falcon Duals continued as team Fauquier resumed their domination with the 69-6 win over George Mason. Team Fauquier went 12 -1 adding three pins to their record.
Round four was really the best match as visiting Brookville had multiple state ranked wrestlers. The team score actually flipped back in forth through the first five weight classes as Brookville won three of those first five matches. The Falcons finished strong by winning the final five of eight matches. Ty Foster and Gino Camarca both recorded pins during this match.
The final round had Region foe John Handley as the Fauquier dropped the Judges 54-18. Fauquier once again took to the mat with five earned pins.
Fauquier competed at the Skyline Elite Opener last weekend on Dec. 3rd and finished in 8th place out of 12 teams. The Falcon Duals turned into an excellent opportunity for the first year Falcon starters to flex their muscle from a week ago and build some confidence.
The Five Champions - by the Numbers:

Question for Fisher
Q: You ran the table with these visiting five teams boasting a 5-0 team record the start of the season, any thoughts?
Fisher: "I thought the guys wrestled well in general. Almost everyone had some tough matches. I really liked how our younger guys wrestled and also liked how our heavier guys competed."
Q: How important is it getting some of you first year starters some wins at home?
Fisher: "I think it is nice to showcase our new guys at home. The fans and parents get to see how competitive our guys are."
Q: Ty Foster earns the Outstanding Wrestler and reaches his 100th win at the Falcon Duals. He looking pretty good on the mat – can you comment.
Fisher: "He has really turned a corner. He is working hard in the room, providing great leadership to the team, and stylistically is wrestling exactly how we like. He is attacking at all times, looking for points in all three positions, and not satisfied with just a win, but looking to dominate for 6 minutes if his opponent lasts that long."
Q: The next few dates seem to have the team Fauquier at the Beast and then Mount Mat Madness. Two tough tournaments what are the team goals through December.
Fisher: "Our goals don’t really change. We look to continue to improve both individually and as a team. We will see tough competition this month, and it will help us be ready for February."
