As week three comes to a close once again the Falcons are flying high with another 1st place finish at the Musselman Duals at Musselman High School in Inwood, West Virginia. This was a one day event where teams were placed into 2 (4) team pools. Team Falcons wrestled 3 matches in their first pool as they won each match in a blow out. Being the winner of this morning’s rounds (pool), they then crossed over into the Champion pool. They also then won the following 2 matches going 5-0 for the day and winning this dual format tournament. This was the team Falcons first time this season that they had dual matches which are different from tournament style meets. Below are the team and wrestlers results of team Falcons at this event.

Morning Pool 1
Fauquier 66 - Martinsburg WVa 9
Fauquier 50 - Mountain View 18
Fauquier 45 - Winfield WVa 27

Champion Pool

Fauquier 48 – Musselman WVa 24

Marco Tcheukado 4-1
Matt Raines 4-1
Dan Ariola 5-0
Tervor Marable 2-2
Michael Villalobos 2-0
Bennett Payne 5-0
Tyler Budd 5-0
Landon Dean 3-3
Seth Baker 5-0
Max Strum 5-0
Aldair Ramos 4-1
Henry Weber 4-1
Evan Oddenino 5-0

Some key individual performances for team Falcons came from Daniel Ariola, Bennett Payne, Tyler Budd, Seth Baker, Max Strum, and Evan Oddenino who all went 5-0 for the day. Seth Baker ended up having 4 pins and a technical fall as he improves his season record to 10-0. Max Strum, a rising junior who had been out for the first two meets this season, finally found himself in the starting line-up and showed his team mates that he is back and ready to give a major boost to the wrestling team at 170 pounds.

Other noteworthy matches came from Marco Tcheukado who lost a close 2-1 to Mountain View’s Lopez, the NOVA Classic champion from the week before. Also Landon Dean moved up a weight class and wrestled Musselman's 152 pound the defending state champion. Landon started off the match well by scoring the first takedown but trailed 3-2 going into third period giving up two more takedowns to lose by a decision.

Up to this point in the season the Falcons and Coach Fisher have had to shuffle the line-up around slightly due to injuries. Again Fauquier found itself forfeiting two weight class as the team continues to work hard to make up from these forfeited weight classes. On the flip turn this has given the opportunity for others wrestlers to get some varsity mat time which in the end has worked out for Fauquier. The team now moves forward with a few days off as their next match is scheduled for December 30th, when team Falcons will host the Falcon Duals. Coach Fisher hopes to have his team at full strength then.
