Hoffman named the New Head Wrestling Coach for Fauquier

Warrenton, VA: During the State Ring Ceremony at the Fauquier School Board meeting last week Fauquier’s Athletic Director Mark Ott officially announced Fauquier's newest head wrestling coach Chad Hoffman.

Hoffman was hired last year by Fauquier County and is a teacher at Fauquier High School. Hoffman is currently the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on the football staff. Hoffman also joined the wrestling coaching staff during the 2019-20 season.

Hoffman will be replacing 10-year head coach Doug Fisher who won three state championship for the Falcons with a 150-70 dual team record.

Question for Hoffman: What is it like to follow in Fisher,s footsteps coming off winning the state championship last season?

Hoffman: “It’s a tremendous honor to follow in Coach Fisher’s footsteps. He set the bar high and I am excited to continue the rich tradition of winning here at Fauquier. I expect to carry on what he has laid out for the Fauquier program.”

Coach Hoffman grew up wrestling in Pennsylvania where he was a district champion his senior year and he placed third the previous two years. He was a 2x regional place winner and a 2x state place winner in Pennsylvania finishing 8th in 2011 and 5th in 2012.

Coach Hoffman went on to play college football at Bloomsburg University where he started at wide receiver for three seasons. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Management. He is currently finishing his Master’s degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University online.

After graduating from Bloomsburg University in 2017, Coach Hoffman decided to stay at his alumni and coach the wide receivers at Bloomsburg that year. The following year Hoffman arrived in Fauquier County.

One of the head assistants for the Fauquier wrestling team, Hoffman helped the Falcons sweep the post season Districts, Regions and crown the 2020 4A State Champions.p>

Question for Hoffman: How important is it to be a part of this wrestling program and already know the kids and coaching staff?

Hoffman: “It’s very important. I was able to build great relationships with the kids and really get to know the type of person and wrestlers they are. It makes the transition easy for me already knowing the kids. As for the staff, I have never worked for a more hard-working and caring staff. We have an equal bond and trust in one another that is hard to find in coaching. Lots of good memories in only one year coaching here at Fauquier. The future is bright.”

Question for Hoffman: Fauquier wrestling has a winning tradition, can that continue?

Hoffman: “It has to continue. No one likes to lose and if you do, you are in the wrong sport. The kids will be challenged. I want this team to continue to be competitive, mentally tough, and disciplined. If we demonstrate these traits consistently throughout the upcoming season, the winning and losing aspect will take care of itself.”

Coach Hoffman recently got engaged and currently resides in Manassas, Virginia and hopes to move to Warrenton within the next year.

Coach Doug Fisher stepped down at the end of last season as a hold on this position was postponed until now.
