Fauquier Wrestling mentioned 2nd, 3rd, and 8th in the Fauquier Times Top 15 Sports Stories of 2020

The success team Fauquier wrestling had on the mat over the past decade would continue in 2020 with Fauquier Times Top sports stories.

On Wednesday, Dec. 30th the Fauquier Times newspaper ran their yearly top sports stories - Top 15 Sports Stories of 2020.

While Fauquier wrestling won the 4A State Championship last February 2020 this accomplishment proved to have ownership not to just one but three sports stories.

Not earning the top story of 2020 but holding the number two, three, and eight had team Fauquier proving it still has a hold of Fauquier County's top stories.

The Number #2 - 'Sam Fisher captures fourth state wrestling title'
The Number #3 - 'FHS claims third state wrestling crown'
The Number #8 - 'Three coaching legends step down'

Questions for Coach Fisher:
Q: Head Coach of the Fauquier wrestling last season can you share some thoughts on this 2020 Fauquier Times top sport stories.

Coach Fisher: "The 2019-2020 season was the most demanding and yet satisfying of all my years at Fauquier. It was a roller-coaster of a season, and it was amazing to be involved in the ride. The satisfaction came from the end of year success, and success came from overcoming challenges during the year. We had a core group of seniors who had come through our youth program and it was very rewarding seeing them come together with the other team members and collectively commit to doing the work that would allow them to ultimately reach their team goals."

Winning Districts and Regionals in exciting comebacks
Fauquier's 1st 4x State Champion (Sam Fisher)
Having 3 State Champs all pin in the finals (DJ Richards, Gino Camarca, Sam Fisher) to seal the Team State Championship

In 2010, 2014, and 2016 Fauquier wrestling earned the top Fauquier Times stories in those years.

Five times 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 team Fauquier was given the second top sports story.
