Fauquier Wrestling Reigns in the Fauquier Times Top Sport Stories of the Decade

Over the past 10 years Fauquier Times sport media has published a yearly Top 10 or Top 20 sports moments. Fauquier wrestling took a spot on the list each of those years.

The Fauquier Times Top 20 sports story of 2019 will show once again that wrestling in Fauquier County is King. Maybe not the number one sport story for 2019 but holding the number two slot again will show Wrestling is head and shoulders over all others.

In the last decade Fauquier wrestling was the Fauquier Times top story in 2010, 2014, and 2016. The Falcons also then had the number two stories in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and the third top story in 2018.

In recent years top wrestling achievements may had been held solely by Fauquier wrestling, but the 2019 number two story also had Kettle Run and Liberty High School breaking through with successful wrestling achievements and joining in on the ranks.

Questions for Coach Fisher:
Q: To be the Head Coach for the Falcons through this time period - something special to consistently be on the Fauquier Times top stories. Can you share some thoughts?
Coach Fisher: "We have been fortunate to have a consistent group of kids with similar mindsets over the past decade. We just try to provide an environment for kids with the right kind of attitude and effort to succeed."

Q: Reviewing how Kettle Run and Liberty HS wrestling has had some recent success - in some sense has team Fauquier raised the level of wrestling by all schools in Fauquier Co.?
Coach Fisher: "I’m a big believer in ‘a rising tide raises all boats’ and we have set the bar pretty high in the last decade, so I’m excited to see the other schools doing well within the state. It is great for wrestling in Fauquier County as a whole."
