Sam Fisher - 2nd place

On Sunday, April 1st the Capital Area Wrestling League - CAWL ended the season with the final Championship tournament hosted by team Fauquier Warhawks. A seventeen team event that placed seeded wresters in a 16-man bracket. Team Warhawks placed twelfth and wrestled hard to earn five placers at the season ending event.
The CAWL is a travel team wresting league in the Washington DC metropolitan area that begins in November and goes through March with teams ranging from Virginia to Maryland. As league strives to prepare youth wrestlers for high school wrestling and most clubs have clubs ties to a high school wrestling program Fauquier team Warhawks would be that youth club team for Fauquier high school. The weight classes range from 50 pounds to heavyweight with increments of 5 to 8 pounds for a total of 21 weight classes.
Three wrestlers 70 pounds Patrick Jordon, 130 pounds Sam Fisher, and 190 pounds Conner Keenan were able to win their first two matches and made it to the CAWL semi-finals. All three wrestlers have been the leaders on the team through the season as they have worked hard all season to put themselves in the championship semis.

Patrick Jordon lost a tough 3-1 match to Cam Sheads in the semi match. Jordon then was able to complete in the consolations bouts to take a 5th place. Jordon won his final match by fall over Collin Dupill - VA Highlanders to take a 5th place.
Conner Keenan also fell short and lost in the CAWL semi-finals to Austin Smith - MD B & O Outlaws. But Conner was able to bounce back and win his next Consolation Semi-Finals match to advance onto the third place championship finals. Conner ended up placing fourth for team Warhawks.
Sam Fisher was the only elite wrestler for the Fauquier Warhawks team to win his Championship Semi-Finals match and advance to the CAWAL finals. Fisher match was tied 2-2 in regulations play as the match then went into overtime (ultimate tie breaker) to decide the winner. Fisher was able to reverse Patrick Gilligan of MD Predators in the final second to steal the 4-2 win. This win advanced Sam Fisher onto the finals. Fisher ended up losing in the CAWL finals to Jason Kraisser of MD Warhawks as Sam took a 2nd place finish.
Other placers for team Warhawks came from 70 pounds - Reece Kuhns who won a 7-0 match over Kyle Miller -VA Bandits to take 7th place and 85 pounds -Gino Camarca who took an 8th place as he went 2-3 for the tournament.
